If my roof is leaking, does it mean I have to replace it?
A leak in the roof does not necessarily mean it needs to be replaced. Leaks happen for a variety of reasons – from easily repairable issues such as flashing conditions near air conditioning units, vents, or skylights, to more complex problems caused by intense wear and tear. We will send a roofing expert to your property to evaluate the situation at no charge to you.
After an assessment has been completed, we will provide you with a written estimate of the charges associated with the necessary repairs and advise you on what work must be completed.

How do I know when I need a new roof?
There are quite a few signs that may indicate that a new roof is necessary.
Residential – Pitched Roofs: If you have a persistent leak, large amounts of unexplained mold inside your home, curling shingles, chipping in the gutter and near the drainage pipe, and extreme flashing conditions that are pulling the roof away from the structure, you will want to consult a roofing contractor about possibly needing a new roof.
Commercial – Flat Roofs: As it was mentioned above, extreme situations of persistent leaks, unexplained mold, and flashing conditions are all indicators that a new roof might be needed.

What happens when I have curling shingles?
When your shingles start curling it is an indication that the oils are beginning to evaporate and the shingles are shrinking, thereby exposing the plywood beneath. Damage can result from water that seeps under the shingles deteriorating the wood decking allowing water to enter your home or business.

Can I afford a new roof?
How much a new roof costs depends on a variety of factors combined. Such factors include labor hours, materials (repairs and/or new materials), old roof removal, and repairs to the underlying structure. Do your due diligence and research what reputable roofing contractors are charging. Cheaper isn’t necessarily better. As a matter fact, some roofing contractors can be less expensive, but they aren’t properly insured and they may provide substandard workmanship. How long will my new roof last?
We offer a variety of roofing options that deliver a range of lifecycles from 10 to 25 years depending on the system selected. Of course, your roof’s longevity is based on the technology involved in creating it. The better the option, the longer you will benefit from it. Roof maintenance is also another important factor to consider. The better maintained a roof, the more usage you will get out of it. Basically, well-designed roofs, proper maintenance, and an efficiently installed system can double a roof’s life.

  • Modified Bitumen: 12-25 yrs.
  • White Cool Roof Systems: 12-30 yrs.

How necessary is roof maintenance?
Regular maintenance is vital in extending the life of your roof. According to the National Roofing Contractors Association “…once the roof is installed, nothing is more critical to its long-term performance than establishing a program of regular inspections and proper maintenance”. If you regularly perform preventative maintenance on your roof, it can double the longevity of your roof. NRG Construction has a variety of routine maintenance programs to offer.
